하나님의 임재연습(The Practice of the Presence of God) -묵상(29) 01/15/2019 (화. Tue.)

• (빌립보서 3: 20-21) “그러나 우리의 시민권은 하늘에 있는지라 거기로부터 구원하는 자 곧 주 예수 그리스도를 기다리노니 그는 만물을 자기에게 복종하게 하실 수 있는 자의 역사로 우리의 낮은 몸을 자기 영광의 몸의 형체와 같이 변하게 하시리라“

로렌스 형제는 자신에게 일어나는 모든 일들 속에서 오직 하나님의 계획과 뜻만을 보는 눈을 가졌다. 그는 하나님의 뜻을 너무너무 사랑했기 때문에 자신의 뜻을 하나님의 뜻 앞에 완전히 굴복시킬 수 있었다. 그러니 자연히 그에겐 끊임없는 평화가 가득할 수밖에 없었다.
세상의 커다란 악에 대한 얘기를 들었을 때조차도 그는 하나님께서 합력하여 그것이 전체 질서에 선이 되게 하실 것이라는 믿음 속에서 그저 자신의 심령을 하나님께로 향하게 할 뿐이었다. 하나님이 그에게 계속 살 것인지 죽어서 바로 하늘 나라에 갈 것인지를 선택할 수 있는 기회를 주신다는 가정하에, 어떻게 할 것인가라는 질문을 받았을 때도 로렌스 형제는 하나님께 선택권을 맡기겠노라고 대답했다. 하나님께서 당신의 뜻을 보여 주실 때까지 자기가 할 일은 아무것도 없음을 알았기 때문이다.

대개 사람들이 가장 거룩한 곳에까지 가지고 다니는 자기 조국에 대한 자연스러운 집착이 로렌스 형제에게는 따라다니지 않았다. 그는 자신과 정반대의 성향을 가진 사람들로부터도 동일하게 사랑을 받았다. 그는 그 일을 행하는 사람이 누구인지, 누구를 위하여 그 일을 하는지 등을 따지지 않고 항상 전체의 유익을 구하였다. 그는 땅의 것들에 얽매이지 않은 천국의 시민이었다.
그의 비전은 시간에 제약을 받지 않았는데 그도 그럴 것이 그는 영원하신 그분 외에는 아무것도 생각하지 않았으며 자신도 그분처럼 영원한 존재가 되기 때문이었다.
로렌스 형제의 마음은 그야말로 하나님의 사랑에 의해 완전히 통치되고 있었기 때문에 그는 이 거룩하신 '연인'에게 자신의 모든 애정을 다 바쳤다. 믿음이 그로 하여금 하나님을 '통치하시는 진리’ 로 받아들이게 해주었고, 소망이 그로 하여금 그분을 완전하신 행복으로 생각하게 해주었으며 , 사랑이 그로 하여금 그분을 만유 가운데 가장 완전하신 분으로, 아니 완전 그 자체로 인식하게 해주었다.

• (마태복음 6:9-13) 주기도문(Lord's Prayer);
하늘에 계신 우리 아버지여, 이름이 거룩히 여김을 받으시오며 나라가 임하시오며 뜻이 하늘에서 이루어진 것 같이 땅에서도 이루어지이다
오늘 우리에게 일용할 양식을 주시옵고 우리가 우리에게 죄 지은 자를 사하여 준 것 같이 우리 죄를 사하여 주시옵고 우리를 시험에 들게 하지 마시옵고 다만 악에서 구하시옵소서
(나라와 권세와 영광이 아버지께 영원히 있사옵니이다. 아멘)

• (Phil 3: 20-21) “ 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”

Brother Lawrence saw nothing but the plan of God in everything that happened to him. Because he loved the will of the Lord so much, he was able to bring his own will into complete submission to it. This kept him in continuous peace. Even when told of some great evil in the world, He would simply raise his heart to God, trusting that He would Work it to the good of the general order. Even when asked what he would answer if God gave him the choice of living or dying and going to heaven immediately, Brother Lawrence said that he would leave the choice to God because he had nothing else to do but wait until God showed him His will.

The natural attachment to One's country that people carry with them into even the holiest places did not preoccupy him. He Was equally loved by those who had different inclinations. He Wished for good in general, without regard to the people by whom or for whom it was done. He Was a citizen of heaven, not concerned with things on earth. His views were not limited by time, because he contemplated nothing but the Eternal One and had become eternal like Him.
The love of God reigned so completely in Brother Lawrence's heart that he turned all his affections toward this divine Beloved. Faith made him regard God as Sovrereign truth; hope made him think of Him as complete happiness; and love caused him to conceive of Him as the most perfect of all beings, as Perfection itself.

• (Matt 6:9-13) “Lord's Prayer”

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
