■ 1937년 1월 25일 월요일 아그라에서 (사랑의 완전함으로)
하나님 , 달빛 어스름한 가운데 타지마할(Taj-Mahal)을 보게 허락해 주신 것을 감사드립니다. 그것은 흡사 하늘에 있는 많은 집들 가운데 하나가 땅에 내려온 것만 같았습니다. 우아한 둥근 천장에서 하늘까지 닿은 흰 양털구름은 밑으로 내려뜨리고 달빛 아래 고정시킨 그물처럼 보였습니다. 그것은 아름답게 조각한 대리석들로 이루어진 완전함 그 자체 였습니다.
하나님께서는 이 모든 세상을 타지마할처럼 완전하게 만들라고 우리에게 명하십니다. 강압적으로 건축된 그런 완전함이 아니라 달밤의 꿈처럼 조화롭고 아름다운 사랑의 완전함으로 만들라고 명하십니다. 그래서 우리는 우리가 주인인 그곳, 우리의 내면에서부터 시작합니다. 그리고 마음으로 예수님을 바라봅니다. 우리는 하나님의 은은한 음성이 사랑으로 건축된 그 타지마할 건물 안에서 하나님께서 지침을 주는 동안에 매 순간 그 음성에 귀를 기울입니다. 그렇게 우리는 귀를 기울이며 섬깁니다.
■ MONDAY, JANUARY 25, AGRA
GOD, I thank You for having let me see the Taj-Mahal by moonlight, like one of the "many mansions" of heaven descended to earth! Those white fleecy clouds which reached from the fairy dome to heaven were like a net which had just let it down and set it in the moonlight. Perfection in perfect marble! And You are calling us to make such perfection of all this world. No, not that perfection built on oppression. But perfection of love as harmonious and lovely as the moonlight dream. We begin where we are masters, inside ourselves. We look at Jesus, the Taj-Mahal of Spirit. We listen every second while Your still voice directs the building of a Taj-Mahal within, built on love—listening and serving.

타지마할(Taj-Mahal)은 인도 아그라에 위치한 무굴 제국의 대표적 건축물이다. 완공에 22년(1631-1653)이 걸렸다. 2007년 7월 7일 신(新) 세계 7대 기적에 선정되었다.
