• (민. Num 12:1-3) “1.모세가 구스 여자를 취하였더니 그 구스 여자를 취하였으므로 미리암과 아론이 모세를 비방하니라 2.그들이 이르되 여호와께서 모세와만 말씀하셨느냐 우리와도 말씀하지 아니하셨느냐 하매 여호와께서 이 말을 들으셨더라 3.이 사람 모세는 온유함이 지면의 모든 사람보다 더하더라(모세라는 사람은 매우 겸손하였다. 땅 위에 사는 어떤 사람보다도 겸손하였다).
1.And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2.And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. 3.(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
• (갈.Gal 5:22-23) 22 오직 성령의 열매는 사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 자비와 양선과 충성과 23 온유와 절제니 이같은 것을 금지할 법이 없느니라. {But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, / gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.}
• (마. Matt 11:29-30)'나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하니 나의 멍에를 메고 내게 배우라 그러면 너희 마음이 쉼을 얻으리니 이는 내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가벼움이라 하시니라'
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
• (마. Matt 5:5) '온유한 자는 복이 있나니 그들이 땅을 기업으로 받을 것임이요'
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
• (삼하. 2Sam 22: 36) 다윗의 찬양기도에서 '주께서 또 주의 구원의 방패를 내게 주시며, 주의 온유함이 나를 크게 하셨나이다' Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
• (시편.Psalm 37:11) “오직 온유한 자는 땅을 차지하며 풍부한 화평으로 즐기리로다”
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
• (출. Ex. 33:11) “사람이 자기의 친구와 이야기함 같이 여호와께서는 모세와 대면하여 말씀하시며 모세는 진으로 돌아오나 눈의 아들 젊은 수종자 여호수아는 회막을 떠나지 아니하니라.
And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
